I Miss My Kiddies!

Bailey didn't have school on Thursday or Friday, nor does she on Monday, for Fall Recess, so I asked my mom if she would mind taking my kids to Panaca, just so they don't lose their minds, stuck at home with me for 5 days straight. Another reason is that although Colby's actually really good when he's home alone with me while Bailey's at school, they find a lot more trouble when they're playing together, and I just didn't want to have to be keeping tabs on them all the time when I should be in bed.

So my wonderful mom came and got them Wednesday night and took them to Panaca, and they won't be back until tomorrow. This is the longest they've ever been away from us and only the second time we've been apart for more than 2 nights! I knew I'd miss them, but I didn't realize how much they'd miss me! They call every day, sometimes twice, to say they love me and miss me and "Can I talk to Daddy?" It's so cute. By Friday Bailey was struggling to hold back the tears when she talked to me!

Yesterday morning my dad called and said, "Bailey's kinda homesick, and she wants to talk to you for a minute." Bailey took the phone and started telling me how much she missed me, but I could tell she was about to cry, so I changed the subject and asked what kinds of fun things they've been doing with Grandma and Grandpa. That worked for a minute, but then she said-- tearfully again--"Mommy, guess what? I'm kinda homesick....but I don't know what that means!" I started laughing, I couldn't help it! I think in her mind she was just hearing "sick" and thinking something was wrong with her, and that worried her!

And my little Colby is such a sweetheart. He didn't even want to leave with my mom when she came to take them. He climbed up on my belly (ouch!--slide over!) and said, "I'm afraid I'll never see you again!" I promised him he would see me again in just a few days (and then said a silent prayer to Heavenly Father to keep my promise for me--please!!!), but he still wasn't ready to go until my mom told him she had a present for him in Panaca. He was off me and out the door in a matter of seconds! :-) But my mom said as soon as he had his present he asked, "Can we go home tomorrow?" and every time he's talked to me, he's been kind of sad. I know he's having fun there, because my parents are telling me everything they've been doing, but he's always been a tender heart and loves to be with his mommy and daddy, so I knew this would be hard for him. Last night when he called, he said, "Mommy, I want to kiss you and hug you." Talk about making me melt!

While I'm on the subject, I have another cute story about Colby. A few weeks ago, I was talking to the kids about my condition and how I need them to be super good helpers. Bailey happily agreed to take care of me "while the baby is in your belly." But Colby's answer won me over: "Mommy, Bailey and Daddy will take care of you while the baby is in your belly, but I will take care of you forever."
I love my babies so much, and I can't wait to see them again tomorrow!

But it's also been wonderful to have Jonathan, at least when he's home, all to myself for a couple of days. The doctor told him to "Get her out of the house" now and then, just to keep me from losing my mind, so he's taken me to eat a couple of times and then just spent a lot of time lying next to me here at home. I love my husband! I have the best family!

It sounds like you must be such a great mom if the kids miss you so much. That's awesome. Your mom sounds great to be helping you out so much too.

OK, thank heavens for my honest sister, because when I showed Jonathan the picture he totally agreed and made me change it right away. Thanks, sis!
