Lately I've been thinking a lot about my blessings and things I'm grateful for--both those things I can enjoy right now, and those things I've been missing while being on bed rest. I think it would be impossible to have a complete list, but these are a few highlights.
Things I'm Enjoying Now
*The Church, where everyone helps everyone as brothers and sisters in the gospel, even when we don't know each other very well.
*My patient and supportive husband.
*Bailey and Colby, who, considering everything they're going through, have been sweet and patient with me for the most part.
*The nicest house we've ever lived in.
*The gift of being able to carry a child (as a partner with Heavenly Father and my husband) and feel its life within me.
*Knowing that the Lord is aware of our situation and watching over us in every way: emotionally, financially, spiritually, physically, etc.
*Good doctors who sincerely care about my well-being and the life of my baby.
*The beautiful fall colors I've watched change on the mountain from the view in our front yard.
*Countless, loving friends and family who have been so supportive through all of this. Those who can have helped, in person, so much; and those who live far away have expressed a sincere desire to help and offered prayers in our behalf.
*Satisfied cravings.
*Crushed ice.
*Sonic, for selling bags of crushed ice.
*Cute baby clothes.
*The internet.
*Our laptop and WiFi.
*The awesome shower head Jonathan bought for me.
Things I'm Missing
*Being able to take a walk outside in the cool, fall air and watch the seasons change.
*Driving up the canyon to see all the colors of leaves.
*Having the strength to walk for more than 2 minutes without losing my breath.
*Being able to lift up Colby and hold him in my arms just after he wakes up from a nap and needs a few moments of love and affection while he fully wakes, or after he gets hurt or feels sad, etc.
*Shopping!
*Jumping on the trampoline with my kids, and sometimes even with Jonathan.
*Exercising (just a little bit).
*Going to Panaca.
*Leaving town to go anywhere!
*Cleaning my house (this one's a shocker, but the truth is that it's been hard for me to not be able to clean my house when I know it needs to be done. I'm not a clean freak by any stretch, and my house is usually more messy than clean, but at least I've always been able to clean it when I want to!)
*Working at the middle school, just because it was nice to be able to help out with the bills (I liked the job, too, but that's not what I'm missing).
*Girls Night Outs with my 4th ward friends.
*Hot baths--any baths.
Again, not complete lists, but notice that they're about even, and that wasn't deliberate. My life is truly wonderful, and I don't have much to complain about. I just feel grateful for my blessings and happy for every day that passes for the gift it gives my son of growing a little healthier and stronger than the day before!

Amber before you know it this will be over and passed and it will seem like just yesterday. Hang in there. The best reward for all of it isn't to far off. As soon as I stop feeling so sick and losing my meals I will come over! MIss ya!
You are such a sweet person, Amber. I hope and pray that things continue to go as good as they can for you. I enjoyed reading your lists. As for the things you miss, there is always next year to look forward to :)
Take care...
Amber - you are such a good example to me. You are always positive and I really admire that about you - thank you. I'm excited to be able to help out at least a little bit while we are in Utah in a couple weeks.
