And the Verdict is.......

More bed rest!!! I went and saw a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist yesterday, and his first words after looking at my ultrasound were, "What we're looking at is a potential miscarriage." I appreciate it when doctors don't beat around the bush, so I was grateful he said it right up front, but it certainly wasn't good news. But he said that at this point, with my only being 21 weeks along, there's nothing that can be done except for me to remain on bed rest and do everything I possibly can to avoid infection--no more hot baths at bedtime!!! Aarrggh!
I asked him if that means I'm going to be on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy, and he said that it kind of looks that way, although, in his words, if we can make it to 32 weeks, "we're pretty much golden," and the baby can be ok. So I guess they might loosen up a little while after that.
My mom was with me and asked again if she could take me and the kids to live with her for a few months, and at first he said yes, until I pointed out that we would be 90 minutes from the nearest full-functioning hospital. At that point he immediately changed his mind and said that that would be extremely dangerous to my health, so no go. But hey, we can endure anything for four more months, right?
Jonathan and I have decided that for the sake of our family as a whole, and especially for our children and my health, this will be our last child. That makes it even harder to think that there's a risk of losing this baby, not that it would ever be easy. But I hope that you can all keep us in your prayers, so that the Itsy Bitsy Brunjes can have one more itsy bitsy baby! And to those of you who have been following up on me and checking on me, thanks so much for your concern--it's nice to be loved!

I wish we were still in Cedar so I could watch your two cute kids for you. I will keep you in my prayers. Do you want me to check with my Sister-In-law and Mom-in-law to see if they could take your kids a few days. I think you know them both :) Let me know either way, I am sure they would be happy to help.

I really hope that things go okay. Believe me when I tell you to follow your doctor's orders very strictly. Although I didn't have placenta previa, I know what it is like to lose a baby at 22 weeks. Much worse than a miscarriage any day (I've experienced 2 of them). Hang in there the best that you can. If I were you, at 32 weeks, I'd be super careful as well because that baby will still be a preemie and need much care (done that one, too).

I hope I'm not sounding insensitive. I'm really feeling scared for you right now. I know the anticipation, fear, and questions you must be feeling. You're in my thoughts and prayers, Amberlee!! I also know, though, that the Lord will provide a way for you through this major trial. He loves you, and as you can tell, so do many of your friends from the past and now. Whatever happens, you're loved, and there is peace and strength and comfort for you. Love you, Amber!

We'll be praying for you. Let us know if there's anything we can do. Sorry we're not around anymore.

Maybe I can tell Jennifer to quit her jobs and come down to Cedar to be a surrogate Melissa.

Stay strong. You are right you can do anything for four months. Then just think, after you have the baby you will wish you could have a little time to rest :)

You are in our thoughts and prayers. I had an acute onset of pre-eclampsia and the placenta abrupted calling for an emergency C-Section. The baby was growth restricted measuring the size of a 28 weeker, but having the organ development of her 32 weeks. It was 6 long weeks in the hospital for her and 2 for me. My blood presure went down after my 2 week stay and my onset of kidney failure began to recover. As for Adessa, she was a fighter. She continued to feed and grow until she could suck, swallow, breathe, and gain weight for 48hrs. We were so very blessed to have this miracle baby. I hope and pray that you too will be blessed. I have a strong appreciation and love for the amazing dr's, nurses, and technology they have. I did not give birth in a hospital with a NICU so the baby had to be lifelited to one with a NICU. My only advice if possible is to birth at a hospital with a NICU. Good Luck and keep us posted.
