Early Easter Egg Hunt

Since Jonathan had to work all day Saturday at the park and the kids and I had to come back to Cedar Saturday anyway, we decided to go ahead and have our "temporal" Easter celebrations on Friday with my family. So that day for lunch we all drove out to Cathedral Gorge to have a picnic and Easter egg hunt, and that's also where the kids found their baskets. I liked it better that way, anyway, because then there's a clear distinction between the eggs, baskets, bunnies--you know, all the commercial stuff--and the actual Sabbath Easter.

Jonathan took the kids over to the caves to climb around while my mom and I hid the Easter eggs. When we were done, I started to walk over there to take pictures but then realized they were getting in the car to come to us, so this is the closest I could get of the kids in the caves!

Although Jonathan and I don't drink caffeine, and rarely pop at all, Colby is a true Peterson and has discovered through my brothers and dad the wonder of Coke. This is him begging me in his sweetest "Please" voice for a drink.

Before I had even noticed what was happening, Colby had decided he was finished with his lunch and wandered off to the boundaries of our Easter egg hunt. All I had was, "Easter eggs. Cool! Bailey, check it out!"

Bailey wasn't exactly saving the easy ones for her brother. But I can't blame her--while she was running around at high speed, he had to stop and open every single egg he found and then eat what was inside!

Finding their Easter baskets.

Bailey ran back to show us her basket right away, but Colby was so impressed with his new gifts, that he had to stop and check it all out while he was still behind the sagebrush. He got binoculars, a telescope, a two-way radio (Bailey got one, too), a camera, a watch, and more, and he was very thrilled with all his man toys. We heard him yell from behind the tree: "NOCULARS!!!"

so do they think the Easter Bunny leaves them a basket or do they know it is from you??
That is fun to have an egg hunt out there? I think that totally works!

That would have been fun! Tanner only had the Easter Eggs hunt from Village Green. We didn't make him one. It was too blasted cold!
