They were so excited that they stood at the door and watched for him to come home when I said it was about time. (Unfortunately he chose that night--FATHER'S DAY--to stay after work for a HALF HOUR to visit with a co-worker, so he didn't get home until after 10:30!) When he FINALLY got home, we all hid in the dark and then popped up to surprise him. The kids couldn't wait to show him the cake and present and all the cards.
This year we decided to go real easy on the Mother's Day/Father's Day gifts, so I hadn't bought him anything, so I had to get real creative at the last minute. But I'm actually kind of proud of what I came up with......
I also want to say thank you and I love you to MY DAD. Thanks for listening and being such a good grandpa and for being a great example of seeing the good in people and helping others.
And also to Jonathan's dad. We love you and we miss you! Thanks for all the support over the years and for raising such an amazing son--and then letting me "have" him!
I also love and appreciate my grandpas--I love you, Grandpa Peterson, and I miss you Grandpa Roe!
And one last, humble "thank you" to my Heavenly Father. There's a Father's Day song in the LDS Primary book about all of our fathers, and ever since I learned it it's helped me remember to think about Him on Father's Day, so I don't want to leave Him out now. I love Him and I know He loves me, and I know that we're all truly His spirit children. I'm so grateful for that knowledge, for the knowledge that when I kneel down to pray that I'm praying to a loving and caring Heavenly FATHER who knows me and wants what's best for me and answers my prayers. What a wonderful gift.

cute post! We did a lame mothers/fathers day too. No buget, no real creativity either. LOL
That's hilarious with the "gun safe" though!
