We're Home

We got home from our trip to North Carolina Saturday night. It was a lot of fun but much too fast. We didn't even get to see all of our friends before we left. It
would have helped to have been able to go to church there, but we weren't even there on a Sunday. I took tons of pictures, but I'm trying to organize my life into "Good, Better, and Best" like Elder Dallin H. Oaks' conference talk, so I'm spending less time online doing things like this and more time in the present real life. But I wanted to post a few pictures to at least highlight our trip!

We stopped at the border between Tennessee and North Carolina, in the Smokey Mountains, because all the fall colors were still out and it was gorgeous. This is at the welcome station to NC.

I was practicing with my camera....

The kids were sooo happy to finally be in North Carolina, on day 4 of the road trip. Unfortunately, they thought that meant we were "here," and it was hard to explain that we still had hours of driving to do, since NC is a very wide state, and Wilmington is on the southeast coast. Colby was running all around the rest area yelling for Meme and Papa (Jonathan's parents), and he cried when we put him back in his carseat!

This is Colby with his cousin and best buddy in the whole wide world, Will. Colby is 5 months older, but of course Will is about 5 inches taller! :-) They were so thrilled to be together again and ran around Will's house in their little briefs all evening when we went to visit. Bailey was going to sleep over there, and they said Colby could, too, if he wanted, but I wasn't sure he would dare. But after spending a few hours there playing, he was NOT leaving with us (we were staying with Jonathan's parents, about 30-40 minutes away) if Bailey got to stay behind. My brother-in-law, Al, said he could still hear those boys playing at 1:30 am, and to get them asleep, he finally had to go in there and lay down on a mattress on the floor with one boy in each arm, and that's how they spent the night!

Colby's birthday is always the week of Thanksgiving, so we've kind of made it a family tradition to have his party after Thanksgiving dinner, which has always been with the Brunjes, so far. (I'm sure by next year he'll know better and start feeling deprived!) Back in the spring, his Meme made Bailey a Tinkerbell birthday cake, and the whole time she was making it he kept asking her for a Spider-man cake. He never forgot, either, so she told us that if we would go to NC for Thanksgiving, she'd make the cake, and she was true to her word! Unfortunately she had to make it the day before and freeze it, and when we set it out to soften, the black icing all ran. My other camera has a picture of right after she made it, which looks much better. Anyway, Colby didn't seem to think there were any faults with it, especially the toy on top! He couldn't have been happier!

He had a hard time blowing out the candles and kept getting closer and closer. It took him awhile, as well as some help from his cousin Logan, but he finally blew them out and was so shy when everyone sang to him--it was cute!

This is my adorable niece, Katy. She didn't remember us, but she LOVED my camera, so it didn't take me long to win her over. She would come up and jibber jabber and then cheese for me, but if I put the camera away, she'd leave. She's her mommy's girl, and she looks just like her!

That was actually my favorite talk at conference. There is a site blurb.com that offers to hard bound all of your blogs into a hardback book, so for me blogging is important, because it is journaling about my family! Check it out- it is actually really affordable too!:)

I can't wait to see you and I am so glad you had such a good time on your trip!!:)

Love ya
Bon
