Meet Tom

We have a new friend at our house. This is Tom. Since I'm allergic to cats and Jonathan just doesn't like them, this is a small miracle for our kids. Fortunately for them, our new "neighborhood" is a nice little habitat for mice and snakes, and Jonathan confessed that having a cat would be the best fix for both of them. So we found someone in town, the Young family, whose cat recently had a litter, and we went over and picked one (Thanks, Matt and Heather!). He's a cute, playful little guy, and since he looks like Tom from Tom & Jerry and his job is to hunt mice, it wasn't too difficult to pick a name for him.
My sister, Camille, also gave us their family's cat, Ella, but not until 3 days after we brought Tom home, so I hated to have him sleep outside his first night away from his mommy and siblings, who have all been indoors. Our first "bed" for him was inside a large Sterilite bin, which he cleared on the 2nd attempt. So then Jonathan put him under our biggest laundry basket, but it only took him a couple good shoves to push it from the linoleum in the kitchen up onto the carpet and then all over the place. Next we put him in a outdoor-sized garbage can (clean), and it took him a little longer but he jumped out of that, too--right onto our kitchen counter. We finally put him in the bathroom with the door shut and boxes against the door, and that worked. Now he's outside with Ella, the ghost cat, who only shows up about once a day for a few moments. But the kids love having pets, and I have to admit that even Jonathan and I are having some fun with them.

I'm not a cat person either, but I probably would get one for mice & whatnot. Congrats on the job, by the way. It looks so beautiful!

Hey, do they have any more kittens??? We're wanting another one, especially since our current cat is such a pathetic mouser :) Plus she needs a buddy for when we're out of town.

yeah I agree, Kittens are the bomb- but cats totally suck. Ella did get to be easy though since she is totally just out wandering until she is hungry for food. I felt bad though like she was totally neglected. I hope she is liking her new oasis of a home.. :)
