Grandma & Grandpa's 50th Wedding Anniversary

On July 23 my Grandma and Grandpa Peterson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They wanted to share in the celebrations with all their posterity, so we all went up and stayed at a cabin at Mammoth Creek for 4 days--it was so much fun. Although a few people had to leave early or come late, the only person in the entire family who missed the whole thing was my brother, Doug, who's on a mission. So Doug, although you were missed, we're really glad you are where you are!

We didn't really have much in the way of planned activities, and it made for the perfect, relaxing weekend. We went 4-wheeling, and a few people went fishing, but most of the time we just hung around the cabin and visited and ate. Petersons like to eat--a Peterson reunion is a terrible place to be if you're trying to lose weight, but I'm not blaming anybody but myself. I couldn't resist the chocolate chip cookies!

The part of the reunion I enjoyed the most was playing "BlongoBall." It's also called Ladder Ball or Ladder Golf, and it involves throwing golf balls at a 3-rung ladder made out of PVC pipe. My parents just bought it, and it's so addicting. Everybody played it, and it didn't take long before we were having "Best of 3" challenges and stuff.Grandma, Colby, Me, and Jonathan watching a BlongoBall game.

Colby has found a soul-mate in my cousin, Matthew. They could rough-house for hours on end.

Me and my sisters, Camille (top) and Jenny. My mom says Jenny and I look like twins here. We do have people get us confused every now and then.

Because I'm such an awesome aunt/mom, I wanted the kids to have fun nature backpacks while we were up there. So with a little $ help from my sisters, I bought backpacks and filled them with notebooks, crayons, magnifying glasses, flashlights (from my mom), Pez dispensers, and more. The kids loved them. It was like they were getting Christmas stockings when they were going through them!

Oh, and to explain the black t-shirts....my grandma bought them for everybody, because she hired a photographer to come up and take group pictures one day.

My sisters and I decided to each have some kind of activity to do with the kids so the other moms could have a break. Mine was camp jewelry (bead necklaces and key chains), but it ended up requiring Jenny's help, just because she's more talented than me! Thanks, Jenny!

Jenny's activity was a nature hike to look for bugs and stuff. The kids were enthralled and didn't want to stop, even though it was roasting outside!

Jonathan teaching our nephew, Noah, how to fish, because his daddy couldn't come up until a day later. Isn't he a good uncle?

Camille's the Sugar Cookie Queen and was nice enough to let all the kids ice and decorate their own cookies.

We took up our tent trailer, because there weren't enough beds in the cabin for everyone. It felt more like camping, anyway--we love it!

Me, Brycen, and my cousin, Kaitlin, hanging out in the cabin.

We gave Brycen a lemon to suck on and he didn't mind it one bit, just wanted more! Colby, on the other hand....

And these are my awesome grandparents. They were married young and had my dad a year later, and then my parents did the same thing with me, so my grandparents were both only 39 when I was born. They're young and fun. My grandma likes to giggle and tease and go 4-wheeling, and my grandpa likes to take pictures and tell really great stories. I love you, Grandma and Grandpa! Happy Anniversary!

You and Jenny could be twins and Camille looks so much like your mom. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun. I will have to keep that backpack idea in mind for the Holloway reunion next year, Thanks.
