Free National Park Day!

June 20 was fee-free National Park Day! I read about it in the paper and couldn't resist taking advantage of it. We've been back in Utah for 2 years, and I still haven't been down to Zion, which is basically one of my top 3 places I've been to anywhere, because of the whole poor, starving college student thing. No excuses on fee-free day! We didn't have a whole day to get away because Jonathan had to work, so we drove down to the Kolob entrance to Zion, drove to the end of the road to look around, and then back down to one of the hikes. I was VERY IRRITATED to have forgotten my camera on a trip to a place beautiful enough to deserve the name Kolob.
So I had to settle for Jonathan's camera phone and these 3 measly shots. Camille, I can hear you all the way from Vegas having a fit about the strange and poky little shelf protruding from the front of me. I was appalled when I saw it, too, and almost didn't put that picture on here, but had to for Colby's sake. I'll blame it on the backpack's pull. Disgusting.
Anyway, fun day, perfect weather (we even got rained on a little, but it just made things more exciting!), and now the kids want to go on a hike every Saturday! :-)
As a note of interest, there are also fee-free days on the teens weekends in July and August--can't wait!

am I that rude? LOL I think you look fine, I had to look a couple times to even see what you were talking about! LOL
I haven't been to Zion since when we went to Josh Christensen's wedding in laverkin! Crazy sad- we're in Hurricane 20 times a year!
