Update on the Life of a 6-Year Old

I realized it's been awhile since I've done anything on Bailey, even though she's had plenty happening worth putting on my "log," as she calls it. So I wanted to give a quick rundown of her recent news. First of all, soon after Christmas she came running upstairs one day (long after I thought she'd gone to bed) to show me that she'd pulled out her other top front tooth (darn! just missed being able to sing the song!). Apparently she was lying in bed, and it was moving just enough to bother her, so she decided that rather than showing us and having every adult she knows try to mess with it, she'd take care of it herself. So she went in the bathroom, pulled it out (it probably would have taken another month or so on it's own, so it had to hurt), and came up to show me. She was very proud of herself!

Bailey's also doing very well in school. It's still strange to Jonathan and me that we have a 1st grader and find ourselves attending school assemblies and other such activities. We're so proud of her and what a smart little student she is, even if she does have a hard time keeping quiet during quiet times! Colby and I recently attended an awards assembly, where Bailey was awarded the highest reading honor that students can earn the whole year, and she's done it in just half the year! She loves reading and really takes after her mommy in that, because I was the same way at her age. (She's on the far left.)

Last week Jonathan and I went to Bailey's school for Curriculum Night, and her class put on a little show about water, which has been their science theme lately. (She's really been enjoying it, too, because the other day I walked into the kitchen to find her resting her head on her arms while just staring at a bowl of water with a line painted on the side. When I asked her what she was doing, she told me she was watching for it to "evaporate.") They did a short skit and then sang a couple of songs about rain. She loves the stage, that's for sure (another place she takes after her mom!)!

Baileys tooth or lack there of just plain grosses me out. I don't know how she pulled it out on her own. and it looks like a hole is there. Sick! Gagging!
I do not look forward to the tooth loose thing.....
(i got my teeth early and lost them early 1st on before kindergarten, I am just waiting for Carlaya's to fall out, she got them in early like me)
